Props to business expanding into High St

After months of storing photo backdrops and other event props at her home, the new owner of Prop’d Up Event Hire has found storage space in High St, Wodonga.

Tayla Cook has seen her side business grow rapidly since taking over from the past owner last June.

“I needed more space to accommodate the large metal frames, plinths, high chairs for first birthdays and all the neon signs that were taking over my garage,” she said.

“The opportunity arose to move into a larger space and so I jumped at it.”

The business is located at 25 High St, next to the Caltex service station, and is perfect for displaying all the props for hire.

Tayla was creating balloon garlands for friends and family events and posted her displays on Instagram, which is how the previous owner reached out.

Tayla, who works full-time for a local plumbing business, did not anticipate how busy her weekends would become when she took over the business.

“I had and still have bookings coming out of my ears,” she said.

“This weekend I have seven events on … it’s just massive and it’s a juggle between full-time work and being a mum to a two-year-old, but I love it.

“Since Covid, people don’t take for granted the events and now they want to celebrate and celebrate big.”

The business caters for all events no matter the size, theme or occasion, with tailor-made packages to suit anyone.

Tayla recently did the event set up for the Telstra Business Awards, the Albury Tigers annual ball, the Australian Defence Force annual ball and donated her services to last month’s Stars of the Border event.

The business offers a full-service with set up and pack down part of the package.

“It’s hassle free, people can relax that it will all be set up and they don’t have to come back the next day and pack up,” Tayla said.
